Statement by former UK Foreign Minister Liz Truss Regarding the U.N. "Commission of Inquiry"

August 5, 2022: "...Under my leadership the UK has stood up for Israel when it faces biases and unreasonable criticism. At the UN we have voted against resolutions under, and pressed for, the abolition of Item 7 - the standalone item focused on Israel at the Human Rights Council. I have also strengthened the UK’s supportive role in the UN. During my time as Foreiegn Secretary, I have ensured our diplomats voted against the resolution for a "Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices'', which I considered institutionally biased and a waste of money. Therefore, also I support Prime Minister Lapid’s recent intervention on the UN’s commission of inquiry; antisemitism has no place on the world stage and UN representatives with history of antisemitic remarks should have no role in reviewing the activities of Israel..."
