Why the U.S. was Right to Veto UN Leadership Job for So-called Palestinian "Moderate"

In an article by David Bedein published on February 22, 2017, former Palestinian Authority leader Salman Fayyad's reputation as a "moderate" leader is disputed. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres offered Fayad a position as the UN's Libya envoy, but the U.S. vetoed the offer on February 10, 2017.

According to the article, Fayyad promised to change Palestinian textbooks that incite violence and demonize Jews and Israel but failed to do so. The article also notes that Fayyad published a position paper that includes the following proposals:

1. Both East and West Jerusalem should be the capital of a Palestinian state
2. Palestinians should not be satisfied with Jerusalem, Gaza, and the West Bank as the territory of a Palestinian state
3. Palestinians should financially support terrorists who attack Israel, i.e. "martyrs" and "heroic prisoners"
4. Palestinians should demand the "right of return," leading to the destruction of the Jewish state by demographic change
