UN Human Rights Council, Geneva, Switzerland
At the urging of the United States, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the EU, the UN Human Rights Council has decided to hold a "special session" on Iraq. The title is "the human rights situation in Iraq in light of abuses committed by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant and associated groups." It will take place on September 1, 2014. The move comes after the Council ignored abuses by the terrorist organization Hamas over the past three months and instead held a special session in July to condemn Israel for exercising its right of self-defense. Picking and choosing among terrorist favorites is a Council specialty - that has nothing to do with human rights.
