The U.N.-accredited NGO Norwegian Refugee Council sponsored an Israel bashing-event entitled "Human Rights in Occupied Palestinian Territory" on March 16, 2018 at the U.N. in Geneva. Speaking at the meeting was Palestinian U.N. representative Dima Asfour. In what was a public meeting convened on the sidelines of the current U.N. Human Rights Council session, she said:
"We have confirmed that this decision announcing the move of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, and that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, makes us lose trust in the U.S. and the U.S. loses its eligibility in this process as a mediator. We don't consider the U.S. as a broker for peace anymore after the decision. ...It is now clear that we cannot have the U.S. as a broker for peace. Within the PA [Palestinian Authority] and the PLO we are ...also revisiting all the peace agreements that have been signed in the past to see what can be done and how we can move in a different direction after this announcement."
