Iraq's Statement at General Assembly Debate on UN Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism

Iraq, in its statement at the General Assembly Plenary session on the Secretary General's Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism on February 12, 2016, said that Islamist terrorism had nothing to do with Islam. In its words:

"Mr. President, terrorist organizations such as ISIS, al-Nusra, Boko Haram, and Al-Qaida, are committing the most heinous forms of killing and destruction in the name of Islam. Islam that has nothing to do with these acts."
