Maldives's Statement at General Assembly Debate on UN Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism

The Secretary General introduced a "Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism" in January 2016. The General Assembly took up the plan on February 12, 2016. The contribution of the Maldives: cast Muslims as victims of "Islamophobia" instead of focusing on the victims of Islamist terror. In its words:

"Islam is increasingly being associated with terror and extremism. Islamophobia, as a spectrum of negative expressions continues to expand rapidly..."
