The Israel Defense Forces said a Palestinian stabbed soldier in the West Bank city of Hebron on Monday before being shot dead.
The army said in a statement: 'A terrorist tried to stab a soldier near the Cave of the Patriarchs, lightly wounding him. The soldier and additional forces on the scene responded with gunfire and neutralized the terrorist.'
The incident took place near the Cave of Patriarchs. The Palestinian was identified as Muamar Arif al-Atrash, a 42-year-old father of seven.
In June, a Palestinian was shot dead after attempting to run over soldiers in Hebron. The Palestinian media reported the driver was 37-year-old Rami Sbarana. According to the IDF, Sbarana attempted to ram an officer and a soldier with a small 'Bobcat' tractor.
