Statement by Denmark on behalf of Nordic Countries on the Annual Report of the ICC to the UN General Assembly

On October 31, 2016, the UN General Assembly met to consider the annual report of the International Criminal Court. At the meeting, the representative from Denmark said the following on behalf of the Nordic Countries:

"During the reporting period, the Office of the Prosecutor conducted preliminary examination activities in 11 situations in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America... In total, the Court is currently seized of 23 cases and 10 country situations. These numbers and the geographical scope of cases are unprecedented in the history of the Court. It shows that the ICC is truly a global court..."
