Speaking at the UN on October 31, 2016, the Palestinian delegation continued its attempt to delegitimize a Jewish state and to issue yet another blood libel and incitement to more Palestinian terror. The Palestinian representative accused Israel of coming into being by committing ethnic cleansing in 1948 - when in fact a coalition of Arab armies invaded and tried to destroy the newly-formed state. The representative also inverted perpetrators and victims by accusing Israelis of committing car ramming attacks against Palestinians without any evidence of such a blood libel - when to the contrary there are multiple incidents of car ramming attacks by Palestinians against Israelis. The latest such episode took place as recently as October 30, 2016.
The comments took place at the General Assembly's Fourth Committee (a committee of the whole comprised of all 193 UN member states) during consideration of a report of the so-called "Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People and Other Arabs of the Occupied Territories."
In the Palestinian delegate's words:
"Nearly 70 years have passed since the Nakba, the tragedy in 1948 by which the majority of Palestinians were forcibly uprooted ... or fled in fear for their lives following massacres perpetrated by Israeli forces and terrorist militias against thousands of Palestinians in a clear act of ethnic cleansing. This injustice continues to this day as Israel persists with its ... subjugation of millions of Palestinians by all illegal means and methods, many of which are only comparable to colonization and apartheid...Extremist Israeli settlers continued to terrorize Palestinians... This includes the horrendous practice by settlers of running over vulnerable Palestinian schoolchildren with their cars."
