Durban Watch

At the closing of its 14th session, June 18, 2010, the Human Rights Council adopted without a vote, a Resolution "From rhetoric to reality: a global call for concrete action against racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance" in which the Council decided to "commemorate" the tenth anniversary of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action (DDPA) at its seventeenth session.

In addition, the Council decided "to dedicate two working days of the eighth session of the Intergovernmental Working Group to prepare for the commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action."

The DDPA, which was was adopted in 2001 after Israel and the United States walked out of the conference, names only Israel and charges it with racism.
