Iran's Statement at General Assembly Debate on UN Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism

Iran, the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism and leading proponent of antisemitism, blamed Israel for Islamist terror and the media for racism during the General Assembly session on the Secretary General's Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism on February 16, 2016. In its words:

"Foreign occupation, which is per se a manifestation of violent extremism, has been used to incite violence out of desperation and hopelessness. Destabilization of legitimate governments by mobilizing, arming, and founding armed groups is another driver that can create breeding ground and lead to the rise of violent extremism...[T]he PoA once again fails to recognize the unconstructive and even destructive role that mainstream media and news outlets in some countries have played in promoting sectarianism, intolerance, xenophobic attitude, and racism."
